Its a serious matter of concern when on a fixed single-income only household as I am now. Switching off the heating and lighting and sitting in the dark is becoming the norm in our type of household. Now, we have to cancel the bins collection to have the money to pay the water bill. Why does the LPT not cover this utility charge? Please advise

We need to examine not just how much we pay for our bills, but what we exactly we're getting in return for them

I am outraged about the setting up of Irish Water as a private company, which has been handed our natural resource as if it was nothing. I am outraged that our Government has allowed our constitutional right to our natural resources to be simply taken by the likes of Denis O'Brien, a multi billionaire who owns and controls the majority of the media in this country and is a tax exile supposedly living in Malta. I am sick of what I view as more of the same corruption of vested interests and nepotism in this government and the previous ones. We had Ray Burke, a politician found guilty of corruption, give away our oil in the 1980's, we had the biggest share of fishing grounds (over 200 miles out from our coast) in Europe and they were simply given away too. Our natural gas fields were also exploited through deals done by our supposed elected representatives in previous governments. Again and again our natural resources which we, the Irish people own, according to our constitution - have been simply handed over without any regard for our future needs and present rights. I'm sickened by it all.. And now they think they can take our water and simply hand it to the likes of Denis O'Brien along with our personal details and bully us into paying up. No way. We won't pay.

The Irish Water campaign was a brilliant example of People Power helping to reduce the cost of bills.
